Sand art created by author and son on 30 June, 2008
Our sandbox that day was a strip of sandy beach on Sentosa Island in Singapore.
My 9-year-old son, Andrew and I were armed with two pairs of eager hands and more sand than we could shift.
“What are we making today, mum?” he asked, bewildered by the unlimited possibilities before him. “Let’s start with the first thing that comes into your head and go from there” I suggested. 2.5 hours later, our beach racer, palm tree and crossroad emerged from the sand.
Now take 5 minutes and imagine your sandbox – it could be a blank piece of paper, electronic WORD document, or even your mind. If you could build anything you wanted, what would emerge from your sandbox?
